CLERMONT TOWN BOARD September 13, 2004

The regular meeting of the Clermont Town Board was held on September 13 2004 at 7:30 P.M. Supervisor Michael Pelletier opened the meeting. Those board members present were Councilman Staats, Councilman Harned and Councilman Tousey. Councilwoman Lent was absent. Others present were Robert Desmond, Amandus Fuchs, Jr., William Munro, Walter Brembs, Christopher Nolan, Neil Hegeman and George Davis.

Supervisor Pelletier introduced Bram Moreinis, who has developed the website for the Town of Clermont. Mr. Moreinis made a presentation of the website. The website address is www.clermontny.org. The website will be updated with the most current information on events and activities, minutes of the meetings, etc.

Councilman Staats made a motion; seconded by Councilman Tousey to accept the minutes from the previous meeting as provided. All in favor. So carried.

WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS:

Expenses $4125.30

Profit $3168.70

A motion was made by Councilman Staats, seconded by Councilman Harned to accept the Supervisors report on the Community Day barbecue. Supervisor Pelletier thanked the Community Day committee, Gary Delaurentis, Sarah Healy and Joan Buser, Chris Nolan, who worked on the postal cancellation and the artwork for the design competition. The Town Hall and St. Luke’s Church were dedicated on this day and, now with the Clermont Academy, form the Clermont Historic Civic District. The Supervisor and Board members thanked all that helped on this day.

OLD BUSINESS:

A notice was placed for bids for repairs to the Highway Garage roof. One bid was received from DMC Enterprises, David Champlin in the amount of $24,000. A motion was made to extend the bid for the garage roof for 30 days and for the bid to be resubmitted as a sealed bid. The motion was made by Councilman Staats, seconded by Councilman Harned.

Supervisor Pelletier requested proposals for the construction of the Judges Bench, which will be a movable bench. Three written bids were received and one verbal, as follows:

Churchill Cabinets $2400 Verbally

Kurt Holsapple $3500.

Art Schaeffer $3700

Phelps Woodworking $1800

A motion was made by Councilman Staats, seconded by Councilman Harned to accept the bid from Phelps Woodworking, as it was the lowest bid and can be delivered by September 30 th. All in favor. So carried.

NEW BUSINESS:

A request was received from Lewis and Sharon Ackerman for acceptance of a road, Sharon Way, in their subdivision on Route 9, south of the hamlet. No action was taken on this request, as road has not been completed at this time.

The Town needs to adopt a Code of Ethics and Supervisor Pelletier has a sample from another Town for the board to review and make recommendations at next months meeting.

Budget workshops are scheduled for September 22, 2004 at 7:00 P.M. and September 29, 2004 at 7:00 P.M. at the Town Hall.

The winning entries in the Logo Design Competition were discussed. Robert Desmond expressed his desire to see a representation of the steamboat considered in the town logo. Supervisor Pelletier said the image, which will represent Clermont, has not been decided at this point.

Walter Brembs asked if the Town could notify Niagara Mohawk regarding streetlight at the corner of Commons Road and Route 9, which is out, making the intersection very dark.

A motion was made by Councilman Staats, seconded by Councilman Tousey to approve the Highway Abstract for September, Vouchers #93-117, in the amount of $75,334.75. All in favor. So carried.

A motion was made by Councilman Harned, seconded by Councilman Staats to approve the General Abstract for September, vouchers #247-285 in the amount of $7,778.78. All in favor. So carried.

A motion was made to adjourn at 8:45 P.M. by Councilman Staats, seconded by Councilman Harned.
