TOWN BOARD MEETING

DECEMBER 29, 2004

YEAR END

The Clermont Town Board held its year end meeting on Wednesday, December 29, 2004 at 7:30 P.M. Those present were Supervisor Banks, Councilman Staats, Councilwoman Lent, Councilman Harned and Councilman Tousey.

Others present were Laurence Saulpaugh, Robert Desmond, Clayton Andrus, Amandus Fuchs, Jr., Charles Larsen and Louise Kalin.

Supervisor Banks opened the meeting. He and Councilman Tousey have met with Carrie Bates of Scenic Hudson regarding grant monies to fund the hamlet overview project. Scenic Hudson can secure a $20,000 grant matched by the State with no money required from Clermont. An application has been submitted due to deadline restrictions. Ms. Bates will come before the Board on Monday, January 3 at 8:00 P.M.

A motion was made by Councilwoman Lent, seconded by Councilman Staats to approve payment of the Highway abstract #13, vouchers #152-158 in the amount of $2,767.28. All in favor. So carried.

A motion was made by Councilman Staats, seconded by Councilman Tousey to approve payment of the Fire abstract #13, vouchers #139-148 in the amount of $7,010.51. All in favor. So carried.

A motion was made by Councilman Tousey, seconded by Councilman Staats to approve payment of the General abstract #13, vouchers #373-401 in the amount of $15,993.48. All in favor. So carried.

A motion was made by Councilman Staats, seconded by Councilwoman Lent for the bookkeeper to balance the accounts and transfer within the accounts for the end of year. All in favor. So carried.

There was discussion regarding the insurance for the Fire district and Town. Peter Haemmerlien of Kleeber Agency had made a presentation to the board on December 20, 2004 for Selective insurance through his company. Although the quote came in $3700 less than the current insurance with NYMIR, it would cost the Town $2975 to cancel the current policy due to a clause in the policy. Mr. Haemmerlein did put a lot of time into gathering information for the presentation and the board’s thanks go out to him. Councilwoman Lent made a motion to stay with the current insurance through The Fingar Agency for this year. Councilman Staats seconded the motion. Councilman Harned suggested we look into the insurance again however, earlier in the year, such as August or September, as the policy expires December 31 st. Councilman Tousey supports the motion and believes we should put out an RFP. All in favor. So carried.

Following this meeting, interviews will be held for positions on the Zoning Board of Appeals, Planning Board and Board of Assessment Review. Those interviewing are Amandus Fuchs, Jr., Bram Moreinis, Robert Desmond, Louise Kalin, Clayton Andrus, George Davis, Hank Himmelright and John Halterman, IV.

A motion was made to adjourn by Councilman Staats, seconded by Councilwoman Lent at 7:40 P.M.

Respectfully submitted,

Mary Helen Shannon

Town Clerk
