February 2, 2004

The Clermont Fire Commissioners held their regular monthly meeting on Monday, February 2, 2004 at 6:30 P.M. Deputy Supervisor Staats opened the meeting. Present were Commissioner Lent, Commissioner Harned and Commissioner Tousey. Also present was Chief Laurence Saulpaugh.

Others present were Michael Pelletier, Barbara and Floyd Moore and Anne Poleschner.

A motion was made to waive the reading of the minutes, as copies were provided and approve them by Commissioner Lent, seconded by Commissioner Tousey.

Chief Laurence Saulpaugh gave the January report. (Copy attached)

Chief Saulpaugh reported that there were no major problems with the trucks in the extreme cold weather fighting the fires in Germantown recently, other than minor lines freezing up.

The department has ordered three pagers to replace existing ones that are aging. There are nine junior members and they are holding a meeting on Wednesday evening.

Commissioner Lent has sent the final paperwork to the Dept. of State for the fire grant and requested the final payment of $10,125.00 for the purchase of gear in 2003. We should be receiving a check.

She has no information on any future grants from FEMA for a truck. She may request a member item grant from Senator Saland.

Chief Saulpaugh would like the Commissioners to form a committee to discuss future plans for a building at Station #2. Commissioner Harned and Commissioner Staats are on the fire committee and will meet with members of the Fire Department to discuss this matter.

Chief Saulpaugh also asked if anyone knew of a survey map on the Station #1 property on Route 9. With the recent sale of the Hettling property adjoining the firehouse property, this might be a good time to look at acquiring additional property for the firehouse. Commissioner Tousey recommended speaking to Diane O’Neil who recently purchased the property.

Commissioner Lent informed the board that the Easter Egg Hunt will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2004, 12 – 2 PM. She asked if the fire department could assist in the parking, as they have in the past.

There are two fire police members attending fire police school. The department is holding a roast beef dinner on February 28, 2004 at 7:00 P. M. at Station #2.

A motion was made by Commissioner Harned to approve for payment Fire Abstract #2, page l, vouchers #3- #12 in the amount of $763.55, seconded by Commissioner Lent.

A motion was made to adjourn at 6:45 P.M. by Commissioner Harned, seconded by Commissioner Lent.

Respectfully submitted,

Mary Helen Shannon
Fire District Secretary
