FIRE COMMISSIONERS MEETING

 

July 5, 2006

 

The Clermont Fire Commissioners held their regular meeting on Monday, July 5, 2006.  Present were Supervisor Banks, Commissioner Staats and Commissioner Nolan. Chief Laurence Saulpaugh was also absent.  Bruce Unson, Charles Larsen and Robert Desmond were also present.

 

Supervisor Banks opened the meeting with a salute to the flag. A motion was made by Commissioner Staats, seconded by Commissioner Nolan to accept the minutes of the June meeting as presented.  All in favor.  So carried.

 

The Chief’s report for June was read:

1.        Auto accident – 6/10/06

2.        Unfounded plane crash on Hudson River – 6/12/06

3.        Standby for Livingston – 6/13/06

4.        Alarm activation – Pleasantvale Road – 6/23/06

5.        Alarm activation – Pleasantvale Road – 6/25/06

6.        Truck off road – Route 9 – traffic control – 6/26/06

7.        Alarm activation – Pleasantvale Road – 6/26/06

8.        Alarm activation – Woods Road – 6/29/06

 

The drill held on June 26 was to clean up and rearrange M60, perform checks on 601 and run all gas powered equipment.

An Avet course was held and seven members attended for 4 nights for 4 hours per night.

A motion was made by Commissioner Staats, seconded by Commissioner Nolan to accept the Chiefs report.  All in favor.  So carried.

 

Commissioner Nolan asked about the number of calls at the residence on Pleasantvale Road.  In the chiefs absence, Firefighter Unson reported that it is a maintenance problem at the residence and they have been informed.  Commissioner Nolan would support Chief Saulpaugh notifying the management of the problem which exists at the residence.

 

A motion was made by Commissioner Nolan to pay Fire abstract #7 in the amount of $4,384.04 and would like it noted that the adjustment for prior electric and kerosene invoices, which have to be deducted from payments made for the lease, be carried over in these minutes.  Seconded by Commissioner Staats.  All in favor.  So carried.

 

Commissioner Nolan asked if the Fire Company members receive the Real Estate Tax abatement discussed in this months Town Topics.  Supervisor Banks said it was not something that the Fire Company is receiving.

 

A motion was made to adjourn by Commissioner Staats, seconded by Commissioner Nolan at 7:20 P.M.
