FIRE COMMISSIONERS MEETING

 

November 6, 2006

 

The Clermont Fire Commissioners held their regular meeting on Monday, November 6, 2006.  Present were Supervisor Banks, Commissioner Harned, Commissioner Lent, Commissioner Staats and Commissioner Nolan. Chief Laurence Saulpaugh, Robert Desmond, Bruce Unson and Charles Larsen.

 

Supervisor Banks opened the meeting with the salute to the flag.  Chief Saulpaugh gave the following report:

There were four calls for the month, Structure fire on Woods Road, Rekindle of Woods Road fire, Standby for Tivoli and an alarm activation on Buckwheat Bridge Road.

The drill for the month was held on October 23rd to discuss addition to Station #2 and repack hose on truck 601 and 603.

 

Work on the firehouse is progressing and should soon be done.  The Chief has not heard anything on the new truck.

 

A motion was made to approve the minutes as presented by Commissioner Harned, seconded by Commissioner Lent.  All in favor.  So carried.

 

Commissioner Harned reported that the election for Fire District Commissioners will be held on Tuesday, December 12 from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M.  The election is open to all registered voters in the district.  Anyone interested in running for one of the five positions should submit a letter of intent, signed and notarized by Tuesday, November 21st to the Town Clerk during regular business hours.  A motion was made by Commissioner Harned, seconded by Commissioner Lent to appoint Judith Neary as the Elector for the election.  All in favor.  So Carried.

 

We will use a voter list supplied by the Board of Elections and legal notices will be placed in the Register Star, Independent and Daily Freeman and a notice will be posted on the board.  Once we have the names of those running, paper ballots will be made up. 

 

It will be up to the newly elected commissioners to choose a date, time and place of the meetings.  They will appoint a secretary and treasurer.

 

Supervisor Banks reported that the Fire Budget was increased by $2,500 for attorney fees and $3,000 for equipment.  The total budget is $145,500 for 2007.

 

A motion was made by Commissioner Harned, seconded by Commissioner Lent to approve Fire abstract #11, page 1, vouchers 125-136 in the amount of $2,666.23.  All in favor.  So carried.

 

Commissioner Nolan asked how vendors know to turn bills in at year-end.  The Chief calls and gets them to send them in.
