The Town of Clermont recognizes that private fire alarm systems provide security and promote safety for buildings, structures and persons within the Town. However, the Town also acknowlegdes that emergency responses due to unregistered systems or repeated false alarms from fire alarm systems can cause unnecessary danger and detriment to fire departments, emergency responders, as well as the public in general. The Town of Clermont adopted Local Law No. 2 of 2014 in the furtherance and protection of the health, welfare and safety of its residents. Residents who have a fire alarm system or who are planning to install an alarm system must register the alarm with the Columbia County Sheriffs Department on a yearly basis and with the Clermont Fire District. Please stop into the Town Hall for a copy of the Local Law and a Registration form during regular business hours, Thursdays 6 PM to 8 PM and Saturdays, 10 AM to 12 PM.
