FIRE
COMMISSIONERS MEETING
February
2, 2004
The
Clermont Fire Commissioners held their regular monthly meeting on Monday,
February 2, 2004 at 6:30 P.M. Deputy Supervisor Staats opened the meeting.
Present were Commissioner Lent, Commissioner Harned and Commissioner Tousey.
Also present was Chief Laurence Saulpaugh.
Others
present were Michael Pelletier, Barbara and Floyd Moore and Anne
Poleschner.
A
motion was made to waive the reading of the minutes, as copies were provided and
approve them by Commissioner Lent, seconded by Commissioner Tousey.
Chief

- There
were eight calls for the month
- Drill
was held on l/26 covering chimney fires and a video on extrication.
Chief
Saulpaugh reported that there were no major problems with the trucks in the
extreme cold weather fighting the fires in Germantown recently, other than minor
lines freezing up.
The
department has ordered three pagers to replace existing ones that are aging.
There are nine junior members and they are holding a meeting on Wednesday
evening.
Commissioner
Lent has sent the final paperwork to the Dept. of State for the fire grant and
requested the final payment of $10,125.00 for the purchase of gear in 2003. We
should be receiving a check.
She
has no information on any future grants from FEMA for a truck. She may request
a member item grant from Senator Saland.
Chief
Saulpaugh would like the Commissioners to form a committee to discuss future
plans for a building at Station #2. Commissioner Harned and Commissioner Staats
are on the fire committee and will meet with members of the Fire Department to
discuss this matter.
Chief
Saulpaugh also asked if anyone knew of a survey map on the Station #1 property
on Route 9. With the recent sale of the Hettling property adjoining the
firehouse property, this might be a good time to look at acquiring additional
property for the firehouse. Commissioner Tousey recommended speaking to Diane
O’Neil who recently purchased the property.
Commissioner
Lent informed the board that the Easter Egg Hunt will be held on Saturday, April
10, 2004, 12 – 2 PM. She asked if the fire department could assist in the
parking, as they have in the past.
There
are two fire police members attending fire police school. The department is
holding a roast beef dinner on February 28, 2004 at 7:00 P. M. at Station
#2.
A
motion was made by Commissioner Harned to approve for payment Fire Abstract #2,
page l, vouchers #3- #12 in the amount of $763.55, seconded by Commissioner
Lent.
A
motion was made to adjourn at 6:45 P.M. by Commissioner Harned, seconded by
Commissioner Lent.
