CLERMONT FIRE COMMISSIONERS
JULY 20, 2015
The Clermont Fire Commissioners held their regular meeting on Monday, July 20, 2015 at 7:00 P.M. at the Town Hall. Those in attendance were Deputy Chairman Laurence Saulpaugh, Commissioner Marc Hildenbrand and Commissioner Raymond Bauer. Commissioners S. Rifenburgh and Commissioner R. Rifenburgh were absent. Others present were Treasurer Denise Fiore, Chief Fred Gooderham and Captain Lloyd Kukon.
Deputy Chairman Saulpaugh opened the meeting with the salute to the flag. A motion was made to accept the minutes by Commissioner Bauer, seconded Commissioner Hildenbrand. All in favor.

A motion was made to accept the Treasurer’s report by Commissioner Hildenbrand, seconded by Commissioner Bauer. All in favor. So carried.
CORRESPONDENCE:
- RBC Wealth Management Statement for June - $296,572.32
- Physio Control Tracking Form for Defibrillators to be completed.
- Lead Agency Requests from Clermont Planning Board for the site plan reviews of Southwood Properties on Woods Road to be able to hold special events and NYNEX Mobile for a cell tower off Pleasantvale Road.
- Penflex – Executive Summaries for the Commissioners were provided and the Annual Report was received.
- Physicals received from CMH:
Peter Cichetti, Mark Schiller, James Potts, Sr., Ronald Rifenburgh, Bruce Potts and Lloyd Kukon.
- Association of Fire District materials received regarding increase in fees from $65.00 to $85.00, member benefits, new OSHA regulations, best practices for fire department training programs and summary and recommendations from the September 2014 symposium.
- Letter from the Marjorie and Alexander Hover Foundation regarding their being unable to fund the District, as we are not a 501(c)(3) organization.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
- BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS: The photocell has gone bad on the sign at Station #1 and will be replaced.
- FIRE EQUIPMENT: Truck #604 – Ralph’s noted repairs that need to be done on Truck #604 as follows:
Left rear axle/front axle, left dual brake canister rusted.
Front Drive – oil filter leaking, need replacement
Tires need replacement, mostly right rear duals; front tires are 20 years old.
Number 3 discharge valve leaking bypass.
Replacing the tires was discussed and Captain Kukon suggested getting prices from Rick’s Tire Repair (Beckers) in Grand Gorge, Van Kleeck in Kingston and a third quote, possibly from Ralphs. Commissioner Saulpaugh to get prices on repairs from Ralph.

OLD BUSINESS:
- LAPTOP & PROJECTOR: Commissioner Hildenbrand priced a laptop and projector for the district. At Best Buy you can get a Dell bundle, 15" laptop, monitor, with all the accessories, projector with Microsoft Word for one year. The total was $779.00.
A motion was made by Commissioner Hildenbrand to approve the purchase of the laptop and projector for training purposes if the bid is lower than state bid, seconded by Commissioner Bauer. All in favor. So carried.
- HOSE AND LADDER TEST: Has been completed with one hose replaced and an old hose taken out of service.
- OSHA: The Department of Labor has come out with new standards for training. Chairwoman Rifenburgh is checking with the instructor on changes.
NEW BUSINESS:
- Applications for Membership
Rhiannon Scott – A motion was made by Commissioner Hildenbrand, seconded by Commissioner Bauer to accept for membership. All in favor. So carried.
Joseph Haywood – A motion was made by Commissioner Hildenbrand, seconded by Commissioner Bauer to accept for membership. All in favor. So carried.
George DiFrance – A motion was made by Commissioner Hildenbrand, seconded by Commissioner Bauer to accept for membership. All in favor. So carried. All DCIS forms were returned with no negative comments. Letters of acceptance into the District will be written.
CHIEFS REPORT:
There were four calls in June:

- 6/10/15 – Alarm Activation – Clermont Historic Site
- 6/14/15 – Alarm Activation – 65 Firehouse Road – Station #2
- 6/19/15 – AAPI – 999 County Route 8
- 6/19/15 – AAPI – Car vs. deer, 1551 State Route 9
Monthly Drill:
6/11/15 – Drafting/ran monitor/deck gun operation – 13 firefighters attended.
- The County Parade is in Stuyvesant on Saturday, July 25th. The Chief would like to take a truck.A motion was made by Commissioner Hildenbrand, seconded by Commissioner Saulpaugh that one truck can leave the district for the parade. All in favor. So carried.
- Station #1 had the diesel fuel delivered
- The following additional payments were added to the abstract:
Columbia Memorial Hospital for physicals - $632.00
Repairs on Truck #604 - $1,591.00
A motion was made to pay the bills by Commissioner Hildenbrand, seconded by Commissioner Bauer. All in favor. So carried.
A motion was made to adjourn by Commissioner Hildenbrand, seconded by Commissioner Bauer at 8:15 P.M.
