CLERMONT FIRE COMMISSIONERS
AUGUST 17, 2015
The Clermont Fire Commissioners held their regular meeting on Monday, August 17, 2015 at 7:00 P.M. at the Town Hall. Those in attendance were Chairwoman Susan Rifenburgh, Commissioner Laurence Saulpaugh, Commissioner Marc Hildenbrand, Commissioner Raymond Bauer and Commissioner Ronald Rifenburgh. Others present were Treasurer Denise Fiore, Captain Lloyd Kukon and Robert Desmond.
The Chairwoman opened the meeting with the salute to the flag. The Chairwoman made a motion to go into Executive Session to discuss the medical history of certain firefighters, seconded by Commissioner R. Rifenburgh. All in favor. So carried. The Executive Session ended at 7:15 P.M. on a motion made by Chairwoman Rifenburgh, seconded by Commissioner R. Rifenburgh and the regular meeting was back into order. The Chairwoman stated that two individuals did not get their physicals and are inactive as of today. The Chairwoman said that the Secretary would write letters to the two individuals notifying them of their status. A motion was made to accept the minutes by Commissioner Saulpaugh, seconded by Commissioner Hildenbrand. All in favor. So carried.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

- BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS: Commissioners Bauer and Saulpaugh
-The photocell has not been fixed on the sign at Station #1. Ray Bauer will remind Bob McCarthy.
-The furnace at Station 1 has a burned out chamber. K&H Fuel quoted a price of $575 to repair. A motion was made by Commissioner Hildenbrand to repair the furnace by K&H Fuel and seconded by Commissioner Saulpaugh.
- FIRE EQUIPMENT: Commissioners Bauer and Saulpaugh
Truck #604 – Commissioner Saulpaugh received an estimate from Ralph’s for repairs on 604 in the amount of $605.95. Commissioner Saulpaugh said the repairs should be done soon. A motion was made to have the repairs on 604 done by Ralph’s by Commissioner Bauer and seconded by Commissioner Saulpaugh.
Commissioner Saulpaugh received estimates (listed below) to purchase 10 tires from Ralph’s, Rick’s and Van Kleeck’s.

Rick’s - $4,864.00
Van Kleeck’s $5,033.22
Commissioner Rifenburgh said a closer look should be taken before new tires are purchased. Chairwoman Rifenburgh said the issue would be revisited at the September Fire Commissioners meeting.
The Fire Chief could not calibrate the gas meter. He got quotes from Garrison and MES. Commissioner Rifenburgh will look into this.

Commissioner Rifenburgh said the Operations Guide and District Policies should be reviewed and updated this fall.
OLD BUSINESS:
- LAPTOP & PROJECTOR: A laptop and projector was purchased at Best Buy along with protection plans for $1,025.02.
- Chairwoman Rifenburgh was advised by Fire Chief that the air pack test will be done this month.
- OSHA: Chairwoman Rifenburgh was advised by Fire Chief that he will arrange for OSHA training. Part 1 is scheduled for October 8 @ 7:00 p.m. Part 2 is scheduled for October 15 @ 7:00 p.m.
- Commissioner Rifenburgh asked where are the two new escape ropes being kept and are the members they were purchased for properly trained to use them. Chairwoman Rifenburgh told Commissioner Rifenburgh to ask the Chief about this along with the calibration of the gas meter.

CHIEFS REPORT:
There were four calls in July:

- 7/23/15 – Alarm Activation – 600 Woods Road
- 7/27/15 – Alarm Activation – 104 Mill Road
Monthly Drill:
7/2715 – Pump Operation – Clermont Horse Farm/Cemetery Road – 14 firefighters attended.
A motion was made to pay the bills with an additional payment (amount to be determined after researching by Treasurer Fiore) to CMH by Commissioner Saulpaugh, seconded by Commissioner Hildenbrand. All in favor. So carried.
Commissioner Rifenburgh wants to get rid of the 4" hose.
PUBLIC COMMENT:
Captain Kukon asked Commissioner Hildenbrand if Tivoli is interested in using Clermont’s breathing compressor and sharing the expense. Commissioner Hildenbrand will look into it.
Bob Desmond suggested looking online for tires for truck for a more reasonable price. Commissioner Hildenbrand said shipping truck tires is very expensive.
Inquiry re status of application for Samuel Williams. Application will be voted on at the September Fire Company meeting and then forwarded to Commissioners.
The 2016 Budget Meeting will be held September 21, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. followed by the regular monthly meeting at 7:00 p.m.
A motion was made to adjourn by Commissioner Saulpaugh, seconded by Commissioner Bauer at 8:10 P.M.
