CLERMONT FIRE COMMISSIONERS
BUDGET WORKSHOP
SEPTEMBER 21, 2015
The Clermont Fire Commissioners held their budget workshop on Monday, September 21, 2015 at 6:30 P.M. at the Town Hall. Those in attendance were Chairwoman Susan Rifenburgh, Commissioner Laurence Saulpaugh, Commissioner Marc Hildenbrand, Commissioner Raymond Bauer and Commissioner Ronald Rifenburgh. Others present were Chief Fred Gooderham, Captain Lloyd Kukon, Treasurer Denise Fiore and Robert Desmond.
Chairwoman Rifenburgh called the budget workshop to order. Commissioner Ronald Rifenburgh reminded the Commissioners that the property tax growth for the 2016 fiscal year is at .73 percent, less than 1%.
A review was made of each appropriation account in the budget with the expenditures of 2015. And there were no increases to any of the accounts. The Milan Fire District had requested an increase of $50.00 for their budget for covering the area of Shields Road in the Town of Clermont. They are currently receiving $2,750 and had asked for an increase to $2800. The Commissioners want to hold to the $2,750.00 and when asked all Commissioners were in favor. They are proposing having the Milan Commissioners meet so this can be discussed for next year.
The total appropriations remain the same at $166,915. The estimated prior years unexpended balance was reduced to $10,000. The amount to be raised by taxes was, therefore, increased to $156,915.
A motion was made by Commissioner R. Rifenburgh to accept the tentative budget, seconded by Commissioner Saulpaugh. All in favor. So carried.
The public hearing for the 2016 Clermont Fire District budget will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at 7:00 P.M.
Respectfully submitted,
Mary Helen Shannon
Fire District Secretary.
