CLERMONT TOWN BOARD
REVIEW OF BOOKS AND POLICIES
JANUARY 14, 2017
The Clermont Town Board met on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 10:00 A. M. to review and audit the books of the Town Clerk, Tax Collector, Town Justices and Supervisor and to review all policies. Those present were Supervisor Raymond Staats, Councilman Robert Desmond, Councilwoman Dawn Brownson and Councilman Kris Gildersleeve. Councilman Evan Hempel was absent. Others present were Joan Buser, Tax Collector, Ronald Banks, Town Justice, Lee Gallant, Court Clerk and Mary Helen Shannon, Town Clerk.
After the audit of the books for the end of 2016 and random months during the year, the Board found no discrepancies.
The following policies were reviewed with no changes:
Cash Management Policy
Investment Policy – It was noted that we are receiving the best rate from Bank of Green County and will leave the funds with them.
Procurement Policy
Sexual Harassment Policy
Workplace Violence Prevention Policy
At the January organizational meeting an appointment was not made for a fourth member of the Code of Ethics. Our policy does require four members on the Board so an appointment will be made at the February meeting.
The Highway Personnel Policy was reviewed and there was discussion about increasing the number of vacation days for highway personnel after ten years of service. Effective January 1, 2017 those with ten years of service or more will receive three weeks vacation. There will be no carry over from year to year.
A motion was made to amend the policy to reflect this change by Councilwoman Brownson, seconded by Councilman Gildersleeve. All in favor. So carried.
Councilwoman Brownson has been working on the grant to submit to the Bank of Greene County for Hettling Park. This grant, with funds of up to $2500.00, would be used for a multi-purpose field at the Park. She has put together a projected budget utilizing funds previously received and other grants, donations and in-kind services. The Little League would donate one load of clay and put it down. She would like to get a letter of support from the Little League to submit with the application.
A motion was made by Supervisor Staats, seconded by Councilman Desmond for Councilwoman Brownson to proceed with the grant application. All in favor. So carried.
A motion was made to adjourn at 12:50 P.M. by Councilman Desmond, seconded by Councilman Gildersleeve. All in favor. So carried.
Respectfully submitted,
Mary Helen Shannon, RMC
Town Clerk
