CLERMONT TOWN BOARD
SPECIAL MEETING
MARCH 18, 2009
The Clermont Town Board held a special meeting on Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at 7:00 P.M. at the Town Hall. Those in attendance were Supervisor Staats, Councilwoman O'Neal and Councilman Jones. Councilman Nolan and Councilwoman Lent were absent. Also present was Ray Jurkowski, Town Engineer.
RADIOS: The quote from Com-Tech included conditional chargers for $515.00 but did not include the price for an adapter for each battery, which was $140 each. The Supervisor has cancelled the conditional charger and requested a price for three batteries which are priced at $l28.43 total.
GENERATORS: Our engineer, Ray Jurkowski has informed the board that the contract price was negated. It is being renegotiating for 2009 and there should be new prices by mid April. A new quote will be provided. He is proposing going to at least three vendors for prices to compare with state bid. The lowest bid, from R. P. Schmidt & Son on electrical work seemed to be in line with the specifications. Supervisor should ask him if he would maintain at that bid and provide proof of insurance before starting.
Supervisor Staats did advise the board that the bid from Mac Electric was the highest bid but it did include a $1200 fee for hookup and inspection by company installing generators. Even taking that into consideration, he was still the highest bidder.
BANK STATEMENTS:
We were going to review the information from our accountant regarding Councilwoman Lents FOIL request, however, she was unable to attend this meeting. It was the consensus that we wait until Councilwoman Lent is able to attend.
EASTER EGG HUNT:
Supervisor Staats had the bank statements of past Easter Egg Hunts. It shows that there were donations received and the Village Green Committee has asked for the vendor list. Councilwoman Lent should be present for this discussion.
ZONING REVIEW: Councilman Jones would like two areas discussed in the review of zoning. His concerns are unregistered motor vehicles and outdoor wood burning furnaces.
TOWN PROPERTY: Councilman Jones suggested starting construction on the former telephone property in early April including construction of the driveway. He would also like to see some work proceed on the Hettling portion for the highway garage. He suggested a startup cost for the driveway at $5,000.00 and utilizing donated equipment and highway manpower. Supervisor Staats would like to speak to Andy Howard and Ray Jurkowski discussed SEQRA and storm water provisions, which must be done as part of the process.
CON ED FUNDS: Councilwoman O'Neal has researched use of the Con Ed funds and found that these funds are to be used for infrastructure improvements for town projects and can be used for recreation purposes. It would seem that these funds could be used for the purchase and installation of the generators.
A motion was made to adjourn by Councilwoman O'Neal, seconded by Councilman Jones at 8:00 P.M.
Respectfully submitted,
Mary Helen Shannon, RMC
Town Clerk
