CLERMONT FIRE COMMISSIONERS
AUGUST 17, 2009
The Clermont Fire Commissioners held their regular meeting on Monday, August 17, 2009 at 7:00 P.M. at the Town Hall. Those present were Commissioner Rifenburgh, Commissioner Schiller and Commissioner Bauer. Commissioner Harned and Commissioner Larsen were absent. Others present were Treasurer Denise Fiore, Chief Laurence Saulpaugh, Assistant Chief Ronald Seymour and Robert Desmond.
The meeting was opened by Commissioner Rifenburgh with the salute to the flag.
A motion was made to accept the minutes of the July meeting by Commissioner Schiller, seconded by Commissioner Bauer. All in favor. So carried.
TREASURERS REPORT:

A motion was made to accept the Treasurer’s report by Commissioner Bauer, seconded by Commissioner Schiller. All in favor. So carried
COMMUNICATIONS:
- Portfolio Account Statement Total value: $204411.55
- Treasurer Fiore reported that First Niagara has a new Vice President, Municipal Relationship Manager in Albany.
COMMITTEES:
BUILDINGS & GROUNDS: Commissioners Larsen and Bauer
- Commissioner’s Bauer and Rifenburgh will meet at Station #1 on Tuesday night at 7:00 P.M. to locate the septic system.
- Siren is working at Station #1
- Station #2 – waiting for pole for siren.
- Alarm system will be hooked up to an automatic dialer for low heat. Discussed red light on outside of building, which is not hooked in.
INSURANCE: Commissioners Bauer and Larsen
Commissioner Larsen has requested an insurance binder from Leonard Wireless who repaired the siren. Do not pay the invoice until we receive the insurance binder.
FIRE EQUIPMENT: Commissioners Bauer and Schiller
Chairman Rifenburgh asked if inventory has been completed. Assistant Chief Seymour said it should be done.
LOSAP: Commissioners Schiller and Harned
Commissioner Schiller reported that there are a few who need to complete their beneficiary forms.
LAW AND POLICIES: All Commissioners
The Qualifications and Duties of Officers of Fire District have been completed and copies were provided to Commissioners.
OLD BUSINESS:
- Policy on Alcohol and Drug Abuse will be addressed next month.
- Mirrors on #603 – mirrors are on truck but not wired completely.
NEW BUSINESS:
- Generator at Station #2 has been installed. Working on getting state bid for propane.
CHIEFS REPORT:
There were four calls for July:
7/10/09 – Mutual Aid Structure Fire in Germantown
7/30/09 – Pumpout Commons Road
7/30/09 – Pumpout County Route 8
7/30/09 – Pumpout County Route 8
Drill at airstrip on 7/6/09
7/27/09 Drill at airstrip- there were new firefighters who had not used portable pond.
Commissioner Schiller noted that the firefighters attended the Columbia County Volunteer Fireman’s Convention on 7/25/09 and this should be added to the report.
Assistant Chief Seymour reported that the deck gun would be borrowed by City of Poughkeepsie Fire.
Commissioner Rifenburgh reported that the truck payment on new truck would be completed in 2011. In 2010 we should be looking at new brush truck (mini) to replace 1974 brush truck.
Commissioner Bauer will follow up on invoice from Ralph’s for work on trucks.

A motion was made by Commissioner Bauer, seconded by Commissioner Schiller to pay bills. All in favor. So carried.

A motion was made by Commissioner Bauer, seconded by Commissioner Schiller that the Chief purchase whichever is the best price, not to exceed the grant. All in favor. So carried.
The next Fire Commissioners meeting is Monday, September 21st at 7:00 P.M.
A motion was made to adjourn at 7:51 P.M. by Commissioner Bauer, seconded by Commissioner Schiller.
