Fire Commissioners Budget Public Hearing

CLERMONT FIRE COMMISSIONERS

OCTOBER 20, 2009

BUDGET PUBLIC HEARING

The Clermont Fire Commissioners held a public hearing on the Preliminary 2010 budget for the Clermont Fire District on Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at 6:30 P.M. at the Town Hall. Those present were Commissoners Ronald Rifenburgh, Commissioner Charles Larsen, Commissioner Mark Schiller, Commissioner Raymond Bauer and Commissioner Harry Harned.

Others present were Chief Laurence Saulpaugh, Treasurer Denise Fiore, Bob Desmond and Don Van Wagner.

Chairman Rifenburgh called the public hearing to order at 6:30 P.M. He noted an addition correction from the tentative budget, which results in a decrease of $9,000.00. Salaries remain the same, other personal services was increased by $500.00 for attorney services in 2010. The equipment budget is the same at $16,000.00, contractural expenditures increased by $200.00. The amount budgeted for LOSAP remains at $53,500.00, interest on truck payment at $2500.00 and transfer to Capital Fund at $30,000.00. The total appropriation is $170,675.00. The estimated revenues were reduced by $500.00. The estimated prior year’s unexpended balance is $10,000.00. The amount to be raised by taxes is $159,675.00.

There may be unexpected revenues next year. Grant funds of $47,489.00 may not be received this year but next, and will be transferred to the reserve fund.

Bob Desmond asked what is ‘other personal services’ in the budget? It covers accountant and legal fees. Commissioner Larsen explained that we have not used an attorney, but we may need it so it was left in the budget.

Commissioner Schiller asked where the $1,000.00 revenue comes from? It is interest from the bank.

Commissioner Larsen made a motion to close public hearing at 6:45 P.M. seconded by Commissioner Harned. All in favor. So carried.

Respectfully submitted,
