CLERMONT FIRE COMMISSIONERS
NOVEMBER 16, 2009
The Clermont Fire Commissioners held their regular meeting on Monday, November 16, 2009 at 7:00 P.M. at the Community House. Those in attendance were Chairman Ronald Rifenburgh, Commissioner Charles Larsen and Commissioner Raymond Bauer. Commissioner Harry Harned was absent. Also present were Treasurer Denise Fiore, Chief Laurence Saulpaugh, Assistant Chief Ronald Seymour, Fire Police Captain Donald VanWagner and Robert Desmond.
A motion was made by Commissioner Larsen to accept the minutes of both meetings of the Budget public hearing and the regular meeting in October. Commissioner Mark Schiller seconded the motion. All in favor. So carried.
CORRESPONDENCE:
- Livingston Notice of Election on December 8th
- Livingston Fire Budget
- Penflex: Plan document draft given to Commissioner Schiller to review. It will be signed next month by all Commissioners if acceptable.
BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS: Commissioner Larsen and Commissioner Bauer
- Burn barrel has been removed from Station #1.
- Chairman Rifenburgh will contact Edward DeWitt about picking up garbage from Station #1.
- Commissioner Bauer suggested sealing parking lot at Station #1. It was determined to oil and stone material.

- Mirrors on #604 have been ordered and seat for #603 have been ordered.
- Chairman Rifenburgh will talk to Ralph Torchia about wheel chock on #603 because it has not been fixed.
- Pole for Station #2 siren has not been put in place as of yet.

NEW BUSINESS:
Commissioner Larsen asked Chief Saulpaugh to ask Bob McCarthy to determine what horsepower the siren is at Station #2 for the engine starter.

10/23/09 Structure Fire, mutual aid with Germantown, Route 9G
Drills for the month were:
10/5/09 Station #1 Work detail – hose on Truck #603 - 500 feet
0/19/09 Station #1 Work detail – hose on Truck #601 - 1000 feet
10/26/09 Station #2 Work detail – Drain truck #602, equipment check on jaws, clean station.
- Received the coveralls, seat belt cutters, etc. for the grant. Environmental Conservation Ranger was with the chief today to check it all.
- The fire police equipment has been ordered.
- Need to replace electric pumps for pump outs at a cost of approximately $700 each.
- Commercial 30 lb. washing machine for gear prices at about $6500.00.

Treasurer Fiore gave the treasurer’s report for November:

A motion was made to accept the treasurer’s report by Commissioner Bauer, seconded by Commissioner Larsen. All in favor. So carried.
A motion was made by Commissioner Larsen, seconded by Commissioner Schiller to pay the bills. All in favor. So carried.
Commissioner Larsen mentioned that he heard that the ventilation saw is not working properly. The Chief will check into it.
The Chief brought up about the accident on County Route 8, which took down a power pole. National Grid did not have the available crew to send out for hours to replace the pole. There was further discussion.
A motion was made to adjourn by Commissioner Bauer, seconded by Commissioner Larsen at 7:53 P.M. All in favor. So carried.
