FIRE COMMISSIONERS MEETING
NOVEMBER 15, 2010
The Clermont Fire Commissioners held their regular meeting on Monday, November 15, 2010 at 7:00 P.M. at the Town Hall. Those in attendance were Chairman Ronald Rifenburgh, Commissioner Charles Larsen, Commissioner Mark Schiller, Commissioner Raymond Bauer, Commissioner Harry Harned, Treasurer Denise Fiore and Robert Desmond.
Chairman Rifenburgh opened the meeting with a salute to the flag.
MINUTES: Commissioner Schiller noted a correction on page 1 of the minutes of October 19th to change Company to District. The minutes were approved with correction on a motion made by Commissioner Larsen, seconded by Commissioner Schiller.
TREASURER’S REPORT: Treasurer Denise Fiore gave the following report.

Proposed November 2010 invoices $1,306.12
Paid November 2010 invoices $3,634.26

A motion was made to accept the Treasurer’s report by Commissioner Larsen, seconded by Commissioner Schiller. Commissioner Larsen asked if the LOSAP invoice had been paid this year. The invoice has not come yet.
COMMUNICATIONS:
- The application for Fred Gooderham was received and a letter of acceptance and physical form was sent.
- Received a physical form from Richard Larsen, Jr.
- RBC account statement for October - $200,306.08
- Penflex Service award program notification that Robert Ferguson is eligible to receive a monthly payment effective 12/1/10.
- Division of Criminal Justice report on Fire Police.
- Membership application for Museum of Firefighting in Hudson.
- Pittsfield Communication System battery sale flyer.
BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS: Commissioner Larsen/Commissioner Bauer
- Station #1 has been painted on the north side.
- Commissioner Larsen asked if the rest of the old couch at Station #1 could be disposed of.
INSURANCE: Commissioner Larsen/Commissioner Bauer
- No report
FIRE EQUIPMENT: Commissioner Bauer/Commissioner Schiller
- Commissioner Schiller asked about the monitors at Station #2, which cannot be heard when the florescent lights are on. Chairman Rifenburgh will try to find a plectron to replace the monitors.
- Compartment door latches on truck #603 don’t latch. Should be lubricated, can use silicone.
LOSAP: Commissioner Harned/Commissioner Schiller

LAWS AND POLICIES: All policies
- On review of the first copy of the operating procedures there were several changes to be made. Article 11 – Mutual Aid – change Germantown to Clermont, Article 4 – Firematic Line Officers – change he to he/she in first paragraph. The final report should be ready before the next meeting.
OLD BUSINESS:
- Commissioner Harned is seeking a new term as Commissioner and has submitted his letter.
- Suction hoses for truck #601 have been received.
- Helmet lights are due to ship Nov. 22nd.
- Chairman Rifenburgh talked to officers about hose reel. He has priced a reel at $1169.00 plus freight. The hose reel is on wheels and can be left at one Station and moved when needed.
- The Chairman would also like to hold a meeting with Mars on Ice rescue equipment. Commissioner Larsen asked if he would talk to Livingston Fire about taking the ice rescue class with them. The Chairman will talk to Livingston about letting our guys attend the classes.
- Would like to purchase dry erase boards and markers for each station to be used for classes.
- Commissioner Larsen asked if the steel tanks could be put in shed. There are bar lights and some other items, which can be disposed of. Discussed using Craig’s List to dispose of these items.
A motion was made by Commissioner Larsen, seconded by Commissioner Harned to purchase dry erase boards. All in favor. So carried.
The Chairman asked the Treasurer to let him know what has been spent from the new equipment account through this meeting, adding $1300.00 for hose reel, $1400.00 for VRS for flashlights and give him a total.
NEW BUSINESS:
- Commissioner Larsen will get an estimate for floor at Station #1 from Darryl Millus.
- The Operating Procedures should be done by next meeting and they will have to be printed so that money can come out of this year’s budget.
CHIEFS REPORT:
In the Chiefs absence, the Chiefs report was read by Commissioner Harned.

Drill 10/3/10 on radio usage & demonstrations, new radios issued, 5 firefighters attended.
Special Detail – 10/15/10 – Fire Prevention at Germantown School – 3 firefighters attended.
Drill 10/25/10 – Extrication at airport, 11 firefighters attended.
INVOICES:
Foam Inductor had to be sent back because it was not working. We should receive a bill from Akron brass for repair by next months meeting.
A motion was made by Commissioner Harned, seconded by Commissioner Schiller to pay the bills. All in favor. So carried.

A motion to adjourn was made by Commissioner Harned, seconded by Commissioner Larsen at 8:00 P.M.
