CLERMONT TOWN BOARD
OCTOBER 11, 2011
The Clermont Town Board held a special meeting to open bids for the Community House storm window project and discuss any other business on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at 6:00 P.M. at the Town Hall. Those present were Supervisor Staats, Councilwoman O’Neal, Councilman Desmond and Councilwoman Moore. Councilman Jones was absent. Others present were George Schmitt, Town Engineer, Charles Larsen and Chris Nolan.
Supervisor Staats opened the meeting with the salute to the flag.
Councilman Desmond showed the zoning map and also the Nevis Hamlet boundary map, as proposed. He also showed a map which Morris Associates, our engineering firm, can produce by Tax Map ID number. This can be done for the hamlets and for the entire town. Charlie Larsen stated that this would be very helpful to applicants of the zoning and planning boards when getting the names of adjoining landowners.
MOTION: A motion was made by Councilwoman O’Neal, seconded by Councilwoman Moore to have Morris Associates produce a set of Parcel ID maps for the entire town. All in favor. So carried.
Discussion regarding the Roe Jan Corridor followed as it relates to the zoning map.
BIDS:
Bids were requested from several contractors for the storm window project at the Community House, but only one was received from Jennings Contracting. The Supervisor has been advised that if the bid is deemed reasonable we can award it.
The bid is for twenty-four (24) combination storm windows, removing loose paint, paint storms to match existing trim and installation.
Adams Millwork - $12,235.80
Compatible windows by Marvin (Integrity windows) - $9,224.00
Councilwoman O’Neal would accept the lower bid for $9,224.00 if the product is acceptable. Councilman Desmond asked if Supervisor Staats would check to see if the Marvin product is comparable. Councilman Desmond would be in favor if they were but would approve the higher price windows if they are that much better.
MOTION: Councilman Desmond made a motion to accept Jennings Contracting bid with the determination to be made after the Supervisor and Councilwoman O’Neal checks the actual windows, seconded by Councilwoman Moore. A roll call vote was held as follows:
Councilwoman O’Neal – aye, Councilman Desmond – aye, Councilwoman Moore, aye.
Supervisor Staats abstained from the vote.
A motion was made to adjourn by Councilman Desmond, seconded by Councilwoman Moore at 6:45 P.M.
Respectfully submitted,
Mary Helen Shannon, RMC
Town Clerk
