CLERMONT FIRE COMMISSIONERS
SPECIAL MEETING
JANUARY 30, 2012
The Clermont Fire Commissioners held a special meeting on Monday, January 30, 2012 at 7:00 P.M. to decide on the bid for the 2012 Rescue/Brush Truck.
Those present were Chairman Mark Schiller, Commissioner Charles Larsen, Commissioner Harry Harned, Commissioner Raymond Bauer and Commissioner Laurence Saulpaugh. Others present were Chief Ronald Rifenburgh, 1st Assistant Chief Bruce Potts, 2nd Assistant Chief Bob McCarthy, Robert Desmond and Evan Hempel.
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Schiller and opened with a salute to the flag.
Bids for the 2012 Truck were opened on January 10, 2012 at a special meeting. All Commissioners and Officers reviewed the specifications submitted by SWAB, Tyler Equipment, Fouts Brothers and Maintainer. There is a $20,000.00 difference between the high and low bid. The Commissioners agreed that the bid from Fouts Brothers did not meet the specs, Tyler Equipment did also not meet the specs even though they were asked for clarifications but did not follow through with the second bid. Maintainer also did not meet the bid specs.
Commissioner Bauer made a motion recommending that we accept the bid from SWAB for the 2012 Brush truck at $211,930.00, seconded by Commissioner Saulpaugh. A roll call vote followed:
Commissioner Harned, aye; Commissioner Bauer, aye; Commissioner Saulpaugh, aye; Commissioner Larsen, aye; Commissioner Schiller, aye. All in favor. So carried.
Chairman Schiller will notify Richard Shakerley of SWAB that we have accepted their bid. The secretary will notify others.
Public Comment:
Robert Desmond asked if SWAB was the highest bid and it was. If you add on the $1,000.00 per person to go to inspect the other trucks construction, then it really isn’t that much higher. Mr. Desmond also suggested advising Tyler Equipment why their bid was not accepted, however, the Commissioners feel that they will ask why it wasn’t accepted.
A motion was made to adjourn at 7:15 P.M. by Commissioner Larsen, seconded by Commissioner Bauer.
Respectfully submitted,
Mary Helen Shannon
Fire District Secretary
