CLERMONT FIRE COMMISSIONERS
MARCH 19, 2012
The Clermont Fire Commissioners held their regular meeting on Monday, March 19, 2012 at 7:00 P.M. at the Town Hall. Those in attendance were Chairman Mark Schiller, Commissioner Charles Larsen, Commissioner Laurence Saulpaugh, Commissioner Raymond Bauer and Commissioner Harned. Also present were Chief Ronald Rifenburgh, Treasurer Denise Fiore and Robert Desmond.
Chairman Schiller opened the meeting with the salute to the flag.
MINUTES: Commissioner Larsen noted two corrections for the February minutes. Page 2 – Insurance – change from Kleeber Insurance to VFIS, page 2 – Fire Equipment the van will also be serviced. A motion was made to accept the February 20, 2012 minutes with corrections by Commissioner Larsen, seconded by Commissioner Bauer. All in favor. So carried.
TREASURERS REPORT
The Treasurer submitted the following report for March:

A motion was made by Commissioner Saulpaugh to accept the Treasurer’s report, seconded by Commissioner Larsen. All in favor. So carried.

§ Treasurer Fiore reported that our accountant requested a filing extension for our annual report and was granted an extension until May 1st. She believes the report has since been completed.
BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS: Commissioners Larsen and Bauer
§ Commissioner Larsen received a call from Commercial Instruments & Alarm Systems, Inc. because there was a no heat alarm at Station #1. Commissioner Larsen went down, called service but it turned out that the switch was off. We have a bill for $178.00 for the service call.
§ Dianne O’Neal sold the property, which adjoins Station #1. She needed an affidavit signed regarding encroachment on the northeast corner of the property. Commissioner Larsen signed it. We have a copy of the deed and portion of the survey, which shows the area in question.
§ Commissioner Larsen has not talked to Darryl Melius regarding floor.
INSURANCE: Commissioners Bauer and Larsen
§ Commissioner Larsen reported that the sickness and accident policy is carried by the Arch Insurance Group. Beneficiary forms for auxiliary members will go to Tami Connolly, President of the Auxiliary. Also, this policy will pay fireman who are off on a related injury over and above the County’s self insurance.
FIRE EQUIPMENT: Commissioners Bauer and Saulpaugh
§ Commissioner Saulpaugh reported that the Chief replaced the batteries on truck #601. The batteries still were not charging and there was a short in the charger, which will be replaced. One of the portable pumps is seized up but the Chief has not checked it out yet.
LOSAP: Commissioner Harned and Saulpaugh
§ Supplied the Commissioners with a worksheet on the points for members. He will enter on the sheets to get posted at the Firehouse.
A motion was made to accept the 2011 points by Commissioner Larsen, seconded by Commissioner Harned. All in favor. So carried.
Laws and Policies: All Commissioners
§ No report
OLD BUSINESS:
§ Chairman Schiller submitted a letter to Livingston regarding our firemen responding in their personal vehicles to the scene in Livingston.
NEW BUSINESS:
§ Commissioner Harned may be taking another job, which will require him to work evenings, so he will have to resign his position as Commissioner.
CHIEFS REPORT:
The Chief was called away on a call.
There were four calls for the month of February:
2/4/12 – Alarm activation – 694 Church Avenue
2/20/12 – Brush fire – 47 Commons Road
2/25/12 – Alarm activation – 50 Trout Creek Road
2/29/12 – AAPD – County Route 8, east of Hogtrough Road
The monthly drill consisted of OSHA training, training on structure fires, air packs, fans, saws and ladders, eighteen firefighters attended.
A motion was made by Commissioner Harned, seconded by Commissioner Larsen to accept the Chiefs report. All in favor. So carried.
A motion was made by Commissioner Larsen, seconded by Commissioner Harned to pay the invoices. All in favor. So carried.
