CLERMONT FIRE COMMISSIONERS
APRIL 29, 2013
The Clermont Fire Commissioners held their regular meeting on Monday, April 29, 2013 at 7:00 P.M. Those present were Chairman Mark Schiller, Commissioner Laurence Saulpaugh, Commissioner Raymond Bauer, Commissioner Harry Harned and Commissioner C.J. Larsen. Also present were Chief Ronald Rifenburgh, Captain Fred Gooderham, Treasurer Denise Fiore, Robert Desmond and Evan Hempel.
Chairman Schiller opened the meeting with the salute to the flag.
MINUTES:
The minutes of the March 18, 2013 meeting were approved on a motion made by Commissioner Harned, seconded by Commissioner Larsen. All in favor. So carried.

CORRESPONDENCE:
· Letter from Penflex re Gary DeLaurentis’ payment benefit requesting approval from Commissioners to release funds to Gary DeLaurentis’ wife in a lump sum. Chairman Schiller asked for a motion to approve. Commissioner Harned made a motion to approve seconded by Commissioner Larsen. All in favor so carried.
· Letter from Penflex re Bruce Unson. Commissioner Saulpaugh thinks there may be a second letter.
BUILDINGS & GROUNDS: Commissioner Bauer and Commissioner Saulpaugh
· Annual inspection by CIA today. Commissioner Bauer had not heard from them and had no information.
INSURANCE: Commissioner Bauer and Commissioner Saulpaugh
· The insurance coverage on the buildings was reversed. The insurance representative corrected the coverage. The buildings passed inspection.
FIRE EQUIPMENT: Commissioner Bauer and Commissioner Saulpaugh
· Chairman Schiller looked for the warranty for Truck #604 and found specs stating there is a 15 year minimum warranty with a stipulation that the warranty is void if the anodes are not replaced every 3 years. Arrangements will be made to have VRS pull out the tank and see where and why it is leaking. Commissioner Harned asked who else does this kind of work. Chief Rifenburgh said that once the tank is removed by VRS the Commissioners can decide what to do and who will do the work. The Commissioners and Chief will discuss this further at the next meeting. Commissioner Bauer made a motion to have VRS take the tanker and remove the tank, seconded by Commissioner Saulpaugh. All in favor. So carried.
LOSAP: Commissioner Harned and Commissioner Schiller
· Commissioner Harned will bring the 2012 paperwork for calls, drills etc. currently posted at the Firehouse to the next meeting.
LAWS & POLICIES: All Commissioners
· No report.
OLD BUSINESS:
· Treasurer Fiore stated that the banking information for the 2012 AFG has been updated with FEMA.
NEW BUSINESS:
· Captain Gooderham requested approval to spend $650 to run the electric for the sign at Station 1. Mac Electric will perform the work. Commissioner Saulpaugh made a motion to approve, seconded by Commissioner Harned. All in favor. So carried.
CHIEF’S REPORT:
There were three calls for March:
1. 3/26/13 – Chimney Fire – 1143 County Route 8
2. 3/29/13 – Electrical Fire – Carmelite Sisters, 600 Woods Road
3. 3/30/13 – Smoke Investigation – 160 Nevis Road
A drill was held 3/25/13 and attended by 19 firefighters on Air Pack Training and Check Brush Fire Euipment and 1 hour OSHA training.
· Chief Rifenburgh attended a meeting re installation of a new tower located near Eggers (Blue Hill Mt.). On 5/1 and 5/7 there will be a vote. Chief feels it will pass. The tower is only moving 5’ and replacing 2 old towers which will be removed once new tower is installed.
· Chief Rifenburgh said the County will pay for the pagers, radios and mobiles.
· No visitors or new members attended the open house for visitors and new members at the Firehouse. Chief Rifenburgh and Captain Gutterham were the only ones in attendance.
· On 6/11/13 the hose test will be conducted at Station 2.
· #603 serviced by Joe’s Auto.
· Chief Rifenburgh wants to replace the pressure washer from Station 2. $1,511 from ZEP.
· Chief Rifenburgh told Commissioner Saulpaugh he would like to use the Hover Grant (if the District applies for it) for nozzles.
Chairman Schiller asked for a motion to accept the Chief’s Report. Commissioner Harned made a motion to accept the Chief’s Report, seconded by Commissioner Larsen. All in favor. So carried.

A motion was made to adjourn by Commissioner Harned, seconded by Commissioner Larsen. All in favor. So carried.
