CLERMONT TOWN BOARD
AUGUST 15, 2013
SPECIAL MEETING
A special meeting was held by the Clermont Town Board on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at 7:00 P.M. to award the bids, which were opened at the August 5, 2013 regular meeting. The Board wished to get clarification on the bids for painting and siding repair, which was done by Councilman Kahle with the bidders on site.
Deputy Supervisor Desmond, Councilwoman Moore, Councilman Hempel and Councilman Kahle were present for the meeting. Supervisor Staats was absent from the meeting but would have recused himself from the awarding of the bid due to a conflict. Also present was Assessor Kaszluga.
Deputy Supervisor Desmond opened the meeting, explaining that this special meeting was noticed to the Register Star, posted on the signboard and the website. The bids were as follows:
Darryl Millus - $5300.00
Jennings Contracting - $7,450.00
Staats & Sons Enterprises - $2,950.00
Councilman Kahle did speak to all the bidders and they all felt comfortable with their bids, although they varied greatly. The one thing which was not on John Staats bid was doing the overhang, which Mr. Staats said would be a minimal additional cost.
Councilman Hempel asked if all the bidders would be power washing prior to painting because it wasn’t stated in the bids. They will power wash and scrape. Another difference in the bids has to do with the number of coats of paint which will be applied. The Staats quote was primer and one coat; the Jennings and Millus quotes were two coats. If the Board awards the bid to Staats and they feel it needs a second coat, they can request it.
A motion was made to accept the bid of Staats & Sons Enterprises in the amount of $2,950.00 by Councilman Kahle, seconded by Councilman Hempel. All in favor. So carried.
The board discussed the purchase of a new laptop for Assessor Cheryl Kaszluga. She has been having difficulties downloading the pictures from the data collection process. She has gotten prices from Staples for a Lenovo laptop with 8GB and 1Terabite HD for the sale price of $529.99 and for a Lenovo laptop with touch screen, 6GB on sale for $599.99. The board had approved the purchase up to $700.00. Councilman Hempel thinks that the 8GB, 1Terabite HD would be suitable. A motion was made by Deputy Supervisor Desmond, seconded by Councilwoman Moore to approve the purchase of the Lenovo 8GB at $529.99. All in favor. So carried.
Councilwoman Moore noted that the sink in the kitchen of the Community House is cracked. There is no leaking at this point but it should be discussed at the regular meeting.
A motion was made to adjourn by Councilwoman Moore, seconded by Councilman Hempel at 7:30 P.M.
Respectfully submitted,
Mary Helen Shannon, RMC
Town Clerk
