CLERMONT FIRE COMMISSIONERS BUDGET WORKSHOP

SEPTEMBER 16, 2013

The Clermont Fire Commissioners held their budget workshop and regular meeting on Monday, September 16, 2013 at 6:00 P.M. Those in attendance were Chairman Mark Schiller, Commissioner Laurence Saulpaugh, Commissioner Raymond Bauer and Commissioner Harry Harned. Treasurer Denise Fiore, Chief Ronald Rifenburgh and Robert Desmond were also present.

The Commissioners and Treasurer reviewed all line entries in the budget.

• The salaries for the Treasurer and Secretary were increased to $2500.00 each.
• A line item for other personal services is contemplated for $2500.00 for physicals, EKG’s and FIT tests by an outside vendor. The basic OSHA medical exam is $95.00 with additional fees for other test. The County Self Insurance fund does reimburse $55.00 per physical.
• The line item for Fire Protection paid to the Milan Fire District was increased to $2700.00 as specified in the contract for 2014.
• The insurance line item may have to be increased if the Treasurer’s bond is not included in the insurance invoice. The Chairman will check with our insurance company.
• There is interest on the bond note for the truck in 2014, adding $3,818 to 9710.7 to cover and $872 to Interest on notes for the lease of turnout gear.

Anticipated total of contractual expenditures is $60,675.

Decrease in the LOSAP program expense to $50,000.

The total anticipated appropriations is $168,865.00 with an estimated $11,000.00 unexpended balance.

The Commissioners will hold another budget workshop to finalize the preliminary budget on Monday, October 7^th at 7:00 P.M. at Clermont Station #1 and to discuss any other business, which may come before them. The public hearing on the 2014 budget will be held on Tuesday, October 15^th at 7:00 P.M. The regular meeting for October will be rescheduled for October 15^th immediately following the public hearing.

There was discussion of the Capital Reserve and the Reserve Fund. Any funds remaining in this year’s budget would move into the Reserve fund.

A motion was made by Commissioner Harned to close the workshop, seconded by Commissioner Saulpaugh at 7:10 P.M.
