CLERMONT FIRE COMMISSIONERS
JANUARY 20, 2014
The Clermont Fire Commissioners held their regular meeting on Monday, January 20, 2014 at 7:05 P.M. after the organizational meeting. Those present were Chairman Mark Schiller, Commissioner Susan Rifenburgh, Commissioner Raymond Bauer and Commissioner Laurence Saulpaugh. Others present were Chief Fred Gooderham, Treasurer Denise Fiore, Robert Desmond and Secretary Mary Helen Shannon.
MINUTES: Commissioner Bauer noted two corrections for the December meeting, page 2, change MES to N & S Supply under Buildings and Grounds, change BTU to KVW under new business. A motion was made by Commissioner Saulpaugh, seconded by Commissioner Rifenburgh to approve the minutes of December with corrections. All in favor. So carried.
TREASURERS REPORT:

A motion was made by Commissioner Saulpaugh, seconded by Commissioner Bauer to approve the Treasurer’s report. All in favor. So carried.
COMMUNICATIONS:
- RBC Wealth Management Account Statement for December - $297,338.32
- RBC annual report and Client Portfolio
- Law and Management Conference for Fire and EMS, to be held at Turning Stone Casino in March.
- Penflex – Advising on changes to processing of payments.
- Utica National Insurance Group – Conditional Renewal Notice for Ladies Auxiliary.
- Letter from Livingston Fire District with Commissioners and Officers.
- Certificate of Liability Insurance for Commercial Instruments and Alarms (CIA)
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS:
- Commissioner Bauer got a price of $723.50 from Grainger for dehumidifier for Station #1.
A motion was made to purchase the dehumidifier from Grainger by Commissioner Rifenburgh, seconded by Commissioner Bauer. All in favor. So carried.
- Commissioner Bauer reported that the alarm at Station #1 is now set to go off at 45 degrees if it gets that low. The thermostat will be set at 50 degrees.
INSURANCE:
- Chairman Schiller reported that Greg Fingar of Fingar Insurance would like to set up a meeting with the Commissioners. Chairman Schiller will get in touch with him.
- There was discussion on physicals for those who have not yet had them done for 2013. For those who have not had them done, they should do so by February. Information from the hospital on physicals will come directly to the Fire District. A motion was made by Commissioner Bauer, seconded by Commissioner Rifenburgh that members have until the end of February to get their physicals if they did not get their physical in 2013. All in favor. So carried.
FIRE EQUIPMENT:

LOSAP:
The list of drills and calls has been prepared by Past Chief Rifenburgh. Chief Gooderham will need the meetings and work details to prepare the list for Penflex.
LAWS AND POLICIES:
NO REPORT
OLD BUSINESS:
- The combination on the doors at Station #2 will be changed by the Company.
- There are grants available for a standby generator for Station #1.
- The Motorola base radio has been installed and is working well.
- Commissioner Rifenburgh would like to attend the Commissioners training in Saratoga. A motion was made by Commissioner Saulpaugh, seconded by Commissioner Bauer to pay for the training. All in favor. So carried
- Alarm Law: Commissioner Rifenburgh would like to know if we should do a letter to the Town Board and see if they are interested in an alarm law and then meet to draft the law. The Commissioners will meet on Friday, January 31st at 7:00 P.M. at Town Hall to draft the law and present it to the Town Board for their consideration.
NEW BUSINESS:
There was no new business.
CHIEFS REPORT:
There were four calls:
12/1/13 – Assist disabled hunter – County Route 6
12/14/13 – Electrical Problem – 6 Mill Road
12/15/13 – Lift Assistance – 205 Cedar Hill Road with Northern Dutchess Paramedics
12/31/13 – Alarm Activation – 694 Church Avenue
The monthly drill was held on 12/23/13 on OSHA and Ladders – 15 firefighters attended.
The Chief reported on the following:
- The inventory at Station #1 is complete. When done at Station #2, the Chief will bring it in.
The past Chief has lights and sirens for sale for $150.00. A motion was made by Commissioner Saulpaugh, seconded by Commissioner Bauer to purchase the lights and siren from Ronnie Rifenburgh for $150.00 for the District. All in favor. So carried.
- The Chief will contact Bob McCarthy to have him finish the lights to the sign at Station #1 or we will ask another electrician.
- There is a water spot problem at Station #1 for which a water softener might help with the problem. There are water softeners that can be an on demand system. Will get prices.
A motion was made to accept the Chiefs report with the corrections to the fire call on 12/31/13, by Commissioner Rifenburgh, seconded by Commissioner Bauer. All in favor. So carried.
A motion was made to pay the bills by Commissioner Rifenburgh, seconded by Commissioner Saulpaugh. All in favor. So carried.
