CLERMONT FIRE COMMISSIONERS
JANUARY 31, 2014
SPECIAL MEETING
The Clermont Fire Commissioners held a workshop to review Fire Alarm Laws on Friday, January 31, 2014 at 7:00 P.M. at the Town Hall. Those in attendance were Chairman Mark Schiller, Commissioner Susan Rifenburgh, Commissioner Larry Saulpaugh and Commissioner Raymond Bauer. Others present were Chief Fred Gooderham, Councilman Robert Desmond and Councilman Kris Gildersleeve.
The Board reviewed the Livingston Fire District Alarm Law and discussed the responsibilities of their law on the Code Enforcement Officer of the Town of Livinston. The Board does not want to put more on our Code Enforcement Officer than what his responsibility is as required by NYS Fire Code. Their main objective is to deal more with false alarms and nuisance alarms.
They will seek guidance from the attorney if they can eliminate all but Sections 5.0 Required Contacts for Maintenance, including Section 2.0 E and all of Section 6.0 False Alarms and Other Penalties.
The meeting adjourned at 8:30 P.M.
Respectfully submitted,
Mary Helen Shannon
Fire District Secretary
