Nearby Recreational Facilities

Clermont residents share recreational facilities and programs with Germantown. Its park, Palatine Park, features a children’s playground, sport fields for softball and soccer, a picnic beach, outdoor BBQs, and a dog park. For river enthusiasts the hamlet of Cheviot has a boat dock and a park directly on the Hudson River and Lasher Park in North Germantown has a boat dock as well. There is also Dales Bridge Recreation Area on the Roeliff Jansen Creek.

The former estate of the Livingston family, now the Clermont State Historic Site, offers not only lovely vistas of the Hudson River and the Catskill Mountains, it also features gardens and a window into the history of New York State as well as our nation.

South of Clermont, in Red Hook, residents enjoy the romantic landscape of Poets’ Walk Park. Commissioned by the Astor and Delano families in the mid-19th century, the German-born landscape architect Hans Jacob Ehlers created “outdoor rooms” that inspired Washington Irving then and anyone walking through them now.
